The Department of Campus Safety, working in partnership with other college departments, provides a safe and orderly campus through enforcement of college and community standards and safety education, which fosters students learning and development, and cultivates mutual trust among members of the NEC community to share responsibility for maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning, working productively, and personal development.
The Department of Campus Safety, located at 58 Union Street, consists of six full-time and one part-time safety officer who work a schedule that provides maximum coverage during the busiest time periods and for social and special events such as concerts and dances.
Safety officers provide a variety of functions ranging from enforcement of college policies, patrol of campus grounds, building security ( locking/unlocking buildings and setting alarms), investigation of campus incidents, liaison with local police on college and town issues, and enforcement of campus traffic and parking rules and regulations.
The Department of Campus Safety is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In an emergency you can contact a Campus Safety officer by using one of the 11 emergency phones placed in key locations throughout the campus or by dialing 428-2323.
