The Information Technology department at New England College supports students, faculty, and staff for all campus computing needs. Helpdesk support, email services, financial applications, academic applications, network connectivity and Internet services all fall within our responsibilities. In support of our campus mission, the NEC Helpdesk strives to assist students with technology issues and more importantly to help them become as self-sufficient as possible. Just as with knowing to have your car’s oil changed, (or a more contemporary example – sending a text message or tweet), computers and their basic maintenance have become a routine part of everyone’s work and personal life. Teaching these life skills is one of our contributions to the learning process.

Tips for Technology Use at NEC

Setup and test any computer and software you purchase BEFORE coming to the NEC campus.While we can assist with many problems, knowing your computer and software works before getting to campus will make it that much easier when you get here. When you arrive on campus, so will every other student. Please avoid the lines and check your new computer and software before you arrive.

NEC has partnered with Apogee, a specialized provider of residential networks, to deploy and support an advanced wireless network for our residence halls, featuring 100% wireless connectivity, 24/7 student support, and more.   • Network cable – 15-20” (also known as an Ethernet cable or data cable)
  • Cable lock – to physically lock your computer in your room
  • USB Flash drive – for easy storing and transporting of files•Chargers – and power cords for all your gear
  • Warranty information for your computer in case you need warranty support from the vendor

Help Desk hours (Sept.-May)

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm on campus, 5:00pm to 8:00pm remote.
Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm remote.
Summer Help Desk hours: 8:30-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
