What databases are available?
To see descriptions of the databases that we have available go to the Danforth website (http://www.nec.edu/library) and click on Search Online Databases. There is a short description of each database on this page. For more information on the database content click on the database name. The database site will have information about the content (look for a link called About, Help, FAQs, etc.).
How do I access the databases?
Go to the Danforth Library website http://www.nec.edu/library and select Search Online Databases.
If you are accessing the databases from off-campus, a window displays prompting the entry of a library barcode. Your six digit NEC ID number is your library barcode. This will gain access to most databases.
Exceptions: CAMIO and Faulkner databases- please contact the library for user ID and password CIAO (Columbia International Affairs Online) Remote access user name and passwords need to be established from on campus prior to access availability. If you are not able to come to the campus, a reference librarian will assist you.
What do I do if I can’t get into the databases?
If you experience difficulty accessing the databases, it could be for a variety of reasons.
-If you are a new student, your NEC identification number might not be registered at the library
-If you bookmarked the databases page awhile ago, try going to http://www.nec.edu/library/search-online-databases instead of using the bookmark.
-Try deleting your search history and cookies.

How do I know if a database has a certain journal available?
In EBSCOhost: click on the Title List link beneath the database description.
Titles are listed alphabetically by default, but you may also browse by Subject & Description or by keyword (Match Any Words).
In JSTOR: click on Browse in the navigation bar.
In Lexis-Nexis: click on Sources in the navigation bar.
In Proquest: click on Publications in the navigation bar.
What if an article is not available through the databases?
If an article is not available through our databases or if it is only available as an abstract, you may request it through our interlibrary loan service. Please refer to Library Help: Borrow from Other Libraries for information on this.
